What Do We Do?

After 12 years in business, Pro/File Research KNOWS what it takes to succeed in today’s competitive job search market. We KNOW where the hiring action is and we KNOW how to get you in front of the decision makers with our targeted direct mail campaigns.

There are two basic schools of thought on direct mail, commonly referred to as “Mass Mailings” and “Targeted Direct Mailings.” The former relies on the premise that if enough letters and resumes are mailed, something will inevitably hit. Targeted mailings, on the other hand, are smaller mailings focused on a select audience, the market mostly like to be seeking a candidate with your qualifications. The numbers may be smaller, but the results have been proven to be more effective. What’s more, your cost will be significantly less than with mass mailings.

Simply stated, targeted mailings are personalized letters sent to a select group of individuals based upon your individual needs.

Most targeted direct mail campaigns are produced on paper and sent via U.S. mail. However, with the increasing use of email as a principal communication channel, we also offer email campaigns targeted specifically to executive recruiters. The more traditional “paper” strategy still works best for senior executives and with employers and venture capital firms.

Let’s explore how easy the process is:

  1. You begin the process by telling us what your needs are. Simply fill out the Proposal Pack on this website and Submit it to us. Alternatively, you may copy the form and fax it to us at 215-643-3626.

  2. We will review your needs and get back to you quickly. If we think that we can be helpful to you, we will call you and discuss our ideas with you. If we don’t think that we can be helpful, we will send you an email saying so.

  3. We begin with an individualized, no obligation consultation to discuss your previous employment experience, your current career objectives and your preferences for industry, size of company, geography, compensation and type of position.

  4. Based upon the information collected during our discussion, Pro/File Research will conduct a preliminary review of our data sources to identify the targets that meet your requirements.

  5. We will then present our findings to you. We’ll work together to get just the “RIGHT” list to optimize your responses and opportunities for interviews.

  6. Once we have finalized your targets, we ask that you fax and email your cover letter to us. We’ll produce the letter and forward a proof for your final approval. [If you are having difficulty writing your cover letter, let us know. We have a staff of talented writers available to assist you with both cover letter and resume development.]

  7. Once you’ve given your final approval on the letter, your campaign is ready to go. Pro/File Research will print individualized letters and envelopes (or mailing labels if you prefer). These, along with a bound listing of all of your contacts, will be forwarded to you for signing, stuffing, stamping and sealing. Or, if you prefer, we can handle that for you as well.

    NOTE: For professional, managerial and executive clients, your letters are addressed to the President or CEO. For graduating students and entry-level professionals, letters are addressed to the Director of Human Resources.

  8. That’s it! In less than one week you can go from thinking about direct mail to having a targeted campaign ready to go.

How Successful Are We For You?

It depends.

We do know that direct mail works spectacularly for some individuals and not at all for others. [Only a few people get back to us so we have no scientific data on success rates.]

Here is what we have learned. Credentials are a critical item for success in direct mail. Most hiring authorities are looking to solve a personnel problem and, in their minds, they have defined a set of credentials (e.g., training, experience, degrees) as critical to their solution. If you don’t have the credentials they want, don’t bother to apply. If your credentials match their specifications, they will call.

The marketplace is another critical factor. Is your industry growing like high tech? Or is your industry shrinking like linotyping? What is happening in the marketplace TODAY for people just like you? Timing is essential, but so is luck. Unfortunately, we can’t control the luck.

Pro/File Research works quickly and efficiently to get you into the marketplace. The more visible you are, the better your chances for success. In our view, you only need direct mail to work once.

How Much Does It Cost?

Our charges depend on what we do for you. Each project is unique and customized to individual career search requirements. Factors impacting the cost of your campaign include number of letters, the specific databases used to produce your campaign, and whether your campaign is produced on paper or for email transmission.

Basic pricing is outlined as follows:
Minimum Campaign – 100 Letters $300-$400
Additional Letters $1.50-$4.00/each
Folding, stuffing, sealing and stamping at an additional charge.

We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, certified checks and cashier’s checks for payment.
